Project Invictus is transforming the future of UK Steel. The successful applicant will be a precision focused CDM specialist with a strong foundation in Electrical Engineering. Day to day focus will be playing a pivotal role in one of the UK's most significant industrial transformations, enforcing safety compliance and providing subject matter expertise on CDM regulations and Electrical regulation.

Role: CDM Facilitator (Electrical)

Location: TATA Steel, Port Talbot SA13 2NG (100% site based)

Pay: £40,788 per annum, hourly this is -21.49ph

Contract length: 36 months

Shift Patterns: Monday - Thursday- 08:30-16:45, Friday- 08:30-15:45 (36.5 hours per week)

Start: ASAP but pending the successful result of a medical assessment. This does involve a drug and alcohol test.-

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting and advising the project teams in the co-ordination, implementation and development of safety systems and procedures-

  • Ensuring that adequate control measures are in place for the control of Contractors working for the Project & Design department

  • Ensuring compliance with appropriate CDM and H&S legislation is maintained.

  • Supporting the deployment of the Tata Health and Safety Management System and department goals with respect to the Safety Annual Plan.

  • Identifying improvements in health, safety and environmental standards in the assigned area/Project construction site.

  • Updating designated Safety Systems including Compliance Register and Audit Index.

  • Auditing safety compliance with regards to behaviour and inspections.

  • Liaising with the Central Safety/Specialist Safety Advisor to provide information and where appropriate specialist Health &; Safety knowledge.

  • Developing issuing and recording safety bulletins, accident alerts, amber alerts, toolbox talks etc.

  • Providing information for internal and external stakeholders such as auditors, JWHSAC, steering meetings etc.

  • Delivering local area safety inductions and training packages as required by the local department/Project to ensure clear understanding of local safety rules to all persons (employees, contractors and visitors).

  • Tracking and driving safety compliance training within the local area, e.g. HAVS, Fire, Asbestos, Gas Awareness.

Essential requirements:

  • Driving Licence and access to own vehicle (due to the nature of the site)

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate

  • Electrical Engineering based qualification (NVQ3 and above)

  • Good knowledge of Construction techniques and processes

  • Proficient IT literacy, especially with Windows Office, SAP & Lotus notes database

  • Experience in on site heavy industries, major construction or oil and gas works
