Estimator
Job Description
I'm working with an established and growing fit-out and refurbishment contractor that is looking to add an Estimator to its team in Yeadon, Leeds.
The company has been operating for more than 20 years and now employs over 75 people across its UK and Irish offices. Continued growth across the business has created an opportunity for an Estimator to join the team and work across a busy pipeline of projects.
Their workload covers hospitality, retail, quick-service restaurants, office and commercial fit-out, heritage and refurbishment, offering plenty of variety rather than focusing on one type of project.
The Role
You'll be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates across fit-out and refurbishment schemes, working closely with the commercial and operational teams.
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Preparing detailed cost estimates
- Completing take-offs and producing bills of quantities where required
- Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
- Preparing tender submissions
- Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and internal project teams
- Supporting tender handovers into the delivery and commercial teams
- Maintaining accurate estimating information and cost data
About You
The business is open-minded regarding sector background. Candidates from fit-out, refurbishment, social housing, maintenance and specialist subcontracting environments would be particularly well suited.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous estimating experience within construction
- Strong understanding of construction costs, materials and subcontract packages
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
- Good numerical and analytical skills
- Confidence managing several tenders or enquiries simultaneously
- Strong supplier and subcontractor communication skills
- Experience with COINS ERP would be highly advantageous
