General Manager

Job Description

General Manager (Flexible Workspace)

Bicester with occasional travel to other sites
£40,000-£50,000
Full-time

TRC London is recruiting a General Manager for an established and profitable flexible workspace operator with a growing regional portfolio.

This newly created role will take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of the business, allowing the company's Directors to step back from operational management. It is a significant opportunity for an experienced flexible workspace professional to lead an established team, influence business performance and help shape the company's next chapter.

The business has achieved consistent year-on-year growth and operates a portfolio of serviced offices and coworking space. Its close-knit team is engaged, knowledgeable and passionate about the company, so the successful person will build on strong foundations rather than arrive with a mandate for wholesale change.

You will have genuine autonomy, supported by an experienced Managing Director who will remain available for guidance, coaching and strategic input.

The role

You will:

  • Lead the day-to-day operation and commercial performance of the business

  • Manage P&L performance across individual sites and the portfolio

  • Set and manage budgets, scorecards and key performance measures

  • Produce monthly performance reporting for the Directors

  • Lead, develop and support the existing management and operational team

  • Establish effective team meetings, development plans and ways of working

  • Maintain consistent processes and service standards across all locations

  • Oversee client satisfaction, invoicing, payment tracking and debtor management

  • Provide leadership across operations, facilities, sales and marketing priorities

  • Review business rates, utilities, supplier arrangements and operating costs

  • Ensure appropriate legal, regulatory and operational compliance

  • Evaluate pricing, service lines and opportunities to improve commercial performance

  • Assess new projects and develop business cases alongside the Directors

  • Monitor competitors and wider best practice across the flexible workspace market

  • Lead continuous improvement across systems, processes and technology

  • Help shape the company's approach to AI, sustainability and future service delivery

  • Provide occasional site or front-desk cover when operationally necessary

Alongside the core role, you will lead projects covering utility optimisation, IT provision, pricing, workspace technology, supplier performance and opportunities to develop new revenue streams.

About you

This position requires previous leadership experience within flexible workspace, serviced offices, coworking or a business-centre environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience managing a customer-facing workspace team

  • Responsibility for the operational and commercial performance of a site, cluster or portfolio

  • A sound understanding of budgets, P&L performance and business reporting

  • Knowledge of workspace systems such as Nexudus or OfficeRnD

  • Experience managing operational processes, compliance and customer service standards

  • A track record of developing individuals and building effective teams

  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to identify opportunities to improve performance

  • The confidence to lead projects and make decisions autonomously

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with an established team

  • A structured, process-led and detail-focused approach

  • The curiosity to investigate issues fully and continually look for improvements

  • A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel between regional sites

This role would suit an experienced Business Centre Manager, General Manager, Regional Manager or senior workspace operator ready to take wider responsibility for an established business.

Long-term opportunity

The Directors intend to reduce their operational involvement and, over the longer term, explore potential succession routes for the company. These could include employee ownership or a management buyout.

For the right person, this creates the potential to do more than manage the business: it offers the opportunity to help build, lead and potentially take a future stake in it. Any future ownership arrangement would be subject to the company's long-term plans and separate agreement.

What's on offer

  • Salary of £40,000-£50,000, depending on experience

  • Significant autonomy and direct influence over business performance

  • Support and coaching from the Managing Director

  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays

  • Company pension

  • Optional company healthcare

  • Working hours of 8am-4pm, Monday to Friday, with flexibility

  • A genuine opportunity to shape the future of an established workspace business

If you are an experienced flexible workspace leader looking for broader responsibility, meaningful autonomy and the opportunity to make a long-term impact, we would be delighted to hear from you.
