About MotionTech

MotionTech designs and builds conveyor and automation systems. Every job starts with a customer's layout and finishes as kit built to our drawings.

The Long Eaton design team is growing. A graduate and two new automation starters have joined, and we want experience at the heart of it.

The role

You'll take projects from first layout to final manufacturing drawings. You'll report to the design manager, who sets clear expectations and then trusts you to run your work.

Success looks like accurate, buildable designs delivered on time, and a junior team that's sharper for working alongside you.

What you'll do

You'll:

  • Turn customer layouts into complete conveyor system designs in SolidWorks 3D
  • Produce clear 2D manufacturing and assembly drawings for the workshop
  • Manage your design projects from first layout through to build
  • Keep timelines on track and raise risks early
  • Work with the workshop and automation team to make designs buildable
  • Share your know-how with the graduate and newer designers

What you'll bring

Essential

  • Proven SolidWorks 3D design experience
  • A solid background in mechanical design
  • A mechanical engineering degree, or long-standing hands-on design experience instead
  • Experience producing 2D manufacturing drawings
  • Experience running design projects from brief to completion

Useful, not essential

  • Conveyor, materials handling or special-purpose machinery design
  • Exposure to automation projects
  • Experience supporting graduates or junior designers

Why you'll like it here

Influence: Your experience shapes how a growing design team works.

Culture: A relaxed, straight-talking office where people say what they think.

Working arrangements

39 hours a week: 8:30am-5pm Monday to Thursday, 8:30am-4pm Friday.
