National Sales Manager
Job Description
Salary: £68,000 - £71,000 + 18% annual bonus
We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven National Sales Manager to lead and grow a technical Commercial Building Services business across the UK.
This is a senior sales leadership role, responsible for developing the national sales strategy, strengthening key customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities and leading a sales team to deliver ambitious commercial objectives.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Developing and executing sales strategies to achieve revenue, profitability and market share objectives within the Commercial Building Services sector.
- Managing and growing relationships with existing customers while identifying and securing new business opportunities.
- Building strong relationships with contractors, installers, distributors, consultants, engineering firms and other key stakeholders across the building services market.
- Monitoring sales performance and providing accurate short-term forecasts to support business planning and decision-making.
- Driving the promotion and sale of technical products and solutions, ensuring they align with customer requirements and market opportunities.
- Managing the sales pipeline and maintaining accurate records of prospects, customers, quotations and market activity through CRM systems.
- Identifying and supporting commercial projects from initial opportunity through to successful completion.
- Monitoring market trends, customer requirements and competitor activity, providing insight to support commercial strategy.
- Working closely with Marketing, Customer Service, Product Management and Technical Support teams to deliver value-added solutions and excellent customer service.
- Supporting sales initiatives, promotional campaigns and product launches across the market.
- Preparing and presenting regular business reviews, sales reports and market analysis to senior management.
- Representing the business at customer meetings, industry events, exhibitions and networking opportunities.
- Leading and supporting a national sales team to achieve and exceed sales targets.
- Setting performance objectives and providing ongoing coaching, feedback and development to team members.
- Developing territory plans and account allocations to ensure the sales team is focused on the strongest market opportunities.
About You
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience in sales, business development or account management within Building Services, HVAC, Pumps, Plumbing, Water Management or a related technical industry.
- A strong commercial mindset and a proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Experience developing customer relationships and winning new business in a competitive market.
- Good knowledge of the Commercial Building Services sector and its key stakeholders.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to turn market insight into practical commercial action.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel nationally as required.
- A proactive, results-focused and customer-centric approach.
- Experience selling pumps, technical equipment or engineered solutions into HVAC and Building Services markets would be highly advantageous.
- Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, coach and develop a high-performing sales team.
