Job Description
SEN Teaching Assistant - SEMH, Trauma, Anxiety & Autism
We are looking for a caring, patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, trauma, anxiety and autism.
The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for helping children feel safe, understood, valued and able to learn. You will provide nurturing, consistent support while helping children develop their confidence, emotional wellbeing, independence and engagement in learning.
We are looking for someone who:
* Has experience supporting children with SEN, SEMH, autism, anxiety or trauma.
* Is calm, patient and emotionally resilient.
* Understands that behaviour can be a form of communication.
* Can build trusting relationships with children who may struggle with anxiety or emotional regulation.
* Uses a trauma-informed, child-centred approach.
* Can work positively with teachers, families and other professionals.
* Is committed to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.
The role will include:
* Providing one-to-one and small-group support.
* Supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing.
* Helping children access learning in a way that works for them.
* Encouraging positive relationships, confidence and independence.
* Supporting children during challenging or overwhelming situations.
* Adapting activities and approaches to meet individual needs.
