About the role

Teach Now is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for an all-through special school in Enfield Primary and secondary pupils have a range of needs across the school, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and trauma-related needs.
This setting combines personalised learning with consistent, relationship-led support. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you may help one pupil access a sensory activity and another manage a difficult transition. Working to individual plans, you will support communication, practical skills and emotional safety, adapting your approach to each pupil's age, needs and strengths.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver classroom, 1:1 and small-group support across learning and independence activities.
- Adapt resources and use agreed communication systems for autistic pupils and those with PMLD.
- Use trauma-informed approaches and agreed de-escalation strategies to support SEMH needs.
- Provide personal care and mobility support as required, within care plans and your training.
- Support transitions and social interaction; share progress and concerns with teaching and pastoral teams.
Requirements
- School-based SEND experience is essential, supporting pupils with ASD, PMLD, SEMH or trauma-related needs.
- Confidence adapting support across age groups and following individual learning and care plans.
- A calm, consistent approach to distress and communication differences; relevant specialist training is desirable.
You must be based in the UK, have the right to work in the UK and be able to commit to a long-term placement. Visa sponsorship is not available. A strong commitment to safeguarding is essential.
