Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job Description
Senior Quantity Surveyor - London

A dynamic London-based development and construction consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team. Working across high-quality residential, commercial and mixed-use projects, this is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor who wants greater responsibility within a hands-on, client-focused consultancy environment.

The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will take ownership of projects from early feasibility and cost planning through procurement, construction and final account. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will work closely with developers, architects, contractors and other consultants, providing commercially focused advice while maintaining control of project budgets, procurement and contractual matters.

This opportunity will suit a Senior Quantity Surveyor who enjoys being closely involved in the development process rather than operating within a large corporate structure. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be expected to manage commissions independently, build trusted client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the business. For an ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor, there is strong potential to develop into a more senior leadership position as the consultancy expands.

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading cost management commissions from feasibility through to final account

  • Preparing detailed cost plans, estimates and development budgets

  • Advising clients on procurement routes and tender strategy

  • Producing tender documentation and managing contractor selection

  • Managing valuations, variations, change control and commercial reporting

  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts

  • Providing commercial and contractual advice throughout project delivery

  • Building strong relationships with clients, design teams and contractors

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline

  • Strong UK PQS, cost consultancy or development consultancy experience

  • MRICS qualified or actively working towards chartership

  • Proven experience managing projects through pre- and post-contract stages

  • Good knowledge of JCT contracts and UK procurement methods

  • Strong commercial judgement and client-facing communication skills

  • Comfortable managing multiple commissions with limited supervision

In Return:

  • £70,000 - £75,000 per annum

  • London-based position

  • High level of project ownership and client exposure

  • Varied residential, commercial and mixed-use workload

  • Close involvement in development-led projects

  • Excellent long-term progression opportunities
