Swim Helper

Location: The Perse School, Cambridge

Salary: £16.60 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

The Perse School Cambridge is one of the country's leading independent co-educational day schools for children aged 3-18.

The role of the Swim Helper is to assist the Swim Teacher in delivering high quality swimming lessons by supporting learners in the water, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment for all learners.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective assistance to swimming lessons in line with guidance from a Swimming Teacher;
• To carry out instructions given from the Swimming Teachers safely and accurately;
• To maintain the high standards held within the swim school at all times;
• To provide a welcoming and pleasant class atmosphere to all pupils in lessons;
• To interact with all children in your class in a friendly and positive manner;
• Support Swim Teachers by organising the learners, relaying instructions clearly and ensuring they remain focused;
• Assist learners in the water helping them with confidence building, floating and basic swimming techniques;
• Set up and tidy away equipment before and after lessons;
• Be aware of and follow safety protocols and emergency procedures;
• To be aware of and follow all child protection and safeguarding policies;
• To wear uniform provided and be well presented at all times;
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.

Working Hours

• Monday and Friday - 15:30 - 18:30
• Wednesday - 16:00 - 18:30
• Saturday and Sunday - 09:00 - 12:00

We are looking for cover and regular weekly swim helpers; as the learn to swim programme grows, we will be expanding the swimming lesson hours. Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years to apply.
