We are a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the heart of Southwark, seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team from September 2026. This full-time role involves providing 1:1 support to a child with SEND (Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities), helping them thrive academically, socially and emotionally within a mainstream classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with SEND, under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO
- Assist with the planning and delivery of personalised learning activities
- Foster a positive, nurturing relationship with the child to support their engagement and well-being
- Monitor and record progress, feeding back to teachers and professionals as needed
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and the child's family
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children with SEND (in particular, Autism, ADHD, or speech and language needs is desirable)
- A calm, caring and patient approach
- A proactive attitude and the ability to adapt quickly to changing needs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
